NOTE (April 2009): Because of another change on, and the fact that the website isn't updated in a timely fashion, most data is now scraped from and the columns available have changed (see the version history). Race results are now accessed by clicking on the title of a completed race when in Schedule view.

Displays the current NASCAR schedule, standings, or race results for a specific race. The widget can toggle between the Sprint Cup, Nationwide, or Camping World Trucks series. The series is chosen from the Preferences menu or the context menu.

The default view is the Schedule View. Right-clicking (or CTRL-click on a Mac) will bring up the context menu, which will allow you to switch to Nationwide and Camping World (and back to Sprint). From the context menu, you can also switch to Standings view (and back to Schedule). If a race is completed and the results have been posted — then clicking on the race title will switch to Race Results view for that race. When in Race Results view, you can return to Schedule view via the context menu or the "Go to Schedule" button. When viewing the schedule, the "Go to Standings" button will switch the widget to Standings view.

From the Preferences window, you may choose how many races to display at a time (for Schedule view) or how many drivers to display at a time (for Standings or Race Results view). The next and previous buttons will cycle you through the races (Schedule) or drivers (Standings or Race Results).

In Schedule view, the following information is displayed:
  • day
  • date
  • race
  • venue
  • tv
  • start
  • pole
  • purse
  • Sirius
  • The dock will show the names of the next 3 races as well as the date of the next race
In Standings view, the following information is displayed:
  • rank
  • +/-
  • driver
  • points
  • behind
  • starts
  • poles
  • wins
  • top 5
  • top 10
  • winnings
  • The dock will show the top 3 drivers as well as the standings year
In Race Results view, the following information is displayed:
  • fin
  • car
  • driver
  • make
  • pts/bonus
  • laps
  • laps led
  • winnings
  • The dock will show the top 3 drivers as well as the name of the race for which you are viewing results
In Qualifying Order view, the following information is displayed:
  • order
  • car
  • driver
  • make
  • speed
  • The dock will show the top 3 drivers as well as the name of the race for which you are viewing the qualifying order

Information will update as data becomes available. By default, data is refreshed when the widget is loaded, when you select "Refresh" from the context menu, and when you save your Preferences. You may also, via the Preferences, set the data to refresh when the widget is maximized.

Data is scraped from and

Columns displayed and background opacity are configurable.

Logo position and size are configurable. The logo can be placed at any of the corners, allowing you to align the widget against any edge of the screen.

Double-click the logo to minimize or expand the standings list. You may also click on the minus and plus images to minimize or expand the standings list.

Hovering over the logo will display the "Last Updated" time in a tooltip.

From the Preferences window, you can tell the widget to check for a newer version on startup. You can also check for updates by selecting "Check for newer version" from the context menu.

Click to show sectionNotes

  • August 2007: When I added the ability to set text colors and shadows based on series, I changed how this information is stored. Unfortunately, you will need to respecify the text colors and shadows since there was no easy way to migrate them and keep the code clean.
  • February 2007: Because of a change in the NASCAR site, the Schedule race list for the current year (and presumably future years) no longer links directly to the Race Results. You must click the "Races" button to bring up the race index, and from this list you can click on a race name to view the official results (if posted), unofficial results (if official results aren't posted), or qualifying order (next race only).
  • Since it scrapes data from a live web page, this widget will break if that web page changes its format. I'm, uh, not really a sports fan. With the exception of my Georgia Tech and Redskins widgets, I don't run any of my sports widgets. If something is broken, please contact me and I will attempt to fix it.
  • Also, I contacted JT— who had initially posted that he was going to do a NASCAR widget— and he said that he no longer had time to do a NASCAR widget and that I could do it.

  • To the fine people behind, which I used to generate the new (well, new in August 2007) "loading" graphic that is optionally displayed when data is being retrieved
  • To JT for functionality suggestions
